I will not under any circumstances involve in any act of physical, verbal, academic, sexual abuse and / or harassment activities of any kind directly or indirectly. This is an excerpt from a handwritten letter that I had to submit for protocol reasons.Abuse is abuse, no matter what. See Nuremberg Defense below.
I will interact with the students only during class hours or when they come to specifically meet me at my table. The eyes are watching, both employees and cameras alike. I will minimize and avoid any interactions where students come forward to have a casual conversation with me, or situations where I feel the urge to go forward and have a casual conversation with them. This is serious and important if the student is a girl and must be never violated. If possible, interact with girls only in the presence of another faculty, and always leave the door open.
I will not under any circumstances hand over my personal contact information like my cellphone number to students. Any form of online interaction with the students will be done only in official channels, even if they try to reach in private. This is serious and important if the student is a girl and must be never violated.
Teachers can be friendly, but they can never be friends with the students. There's a difference between respecting a teacher, and liking a teacher.
I will not engage in one to one chats or any form of private communication with any students. All communication will be done only through official channels. I will not post private information about students and discuss about them in any social media. This is a paraphrased excerpt from a handwritten letter that I had to submit for protocol reasons.
Violations
Verbal Abuse - I bodyshamed a boy for standing up and asked him if he's not able to see what's on the board, which made him feel humiliated as everyone around him laughed.
Academic Abuse - I made a girl who was interrupting my class to stand up and read a question while also being able to understand that she doesn't understand anything that I ask her about from that question.
Harassment - I made a boy turn off the fans and lights, and I picked him specifically after asking another boy to choose someone who "hates" him, which made him react seriously, and that later changed to "who makes fun of him", because his classmates didn't do it when the left the room.
Communication - A girl student called my number and I warned her to not and only use official channels to communicate with me, after clarifying her doubts.
Hmm... the man on the couch... the lone wolf... all others - tread carefully. Politics is part of the job and a pitfall that anyone can fall into.
Do not gossip. All health professionals providing care and treatment to a person with mental illness have a duty to keep all such information confidential which has been obtained in the context of care and treatment.
My loyalty and respect will always be with my sire without whom I would not be where I am right now. She is a potential favorite person at work whom I can go to for emotional support, but I must make sure to not rely on her too much as I need to fight my own battles.
Co-workers are NOT my friends. This also includes my sire to whom I pledge loyalty to.
I will not take the keys to open the doors or enter my name in any registers unless I am forced to. I got asked twice, once to come back for "losing" the key that got buried under the sheets, and another time I was accused of letting the lights and fans on before closing the doors and leaving as if I was being interrogated and they were making me confess my mistake. I was also asked to sign the registers after taking the keys when it was someone else who submitted it back.
Don't open it.
DO NOT DISTURB hours: 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM. I really need this time to stop thinking like a junkie about work.
Miscellaneous Information
Superior orders, also known as the Nuremberg defense or just following orders, is a plea in a court of law that a person, whether a member of the military, law enforcement, or the civilian population, should not be considered guilty of committing crimes that were ordered by a superior officer or official. One of the most noted uses of this plea, or defense, was by the accused in the 1945–1946 Nuremberg trials, such that it is also called the "Nuremberg defense". The Nuremberg trials were a series of military tribunals, held by the main victorious Allies after World War II, most notable for the prosecution of prominent members of the political, military, and economic leadership of the defeated Nazi Germany. These trials, under the London Charter of the International Military Tribunal that established them, determined that the defense of superior orders was no longer enough to escape punishment, but merely enough to lessen punishment.
